GIVE SOMEBODY FIVE: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we continue our countdown (cuenta atrás) to our 1000th (one thousandth) Daily Vitamin. Just five days to go!

Today's expression is: to give someone five (informal)

Meaning: to hit the inside of someone's hand with your hand as a greeting or to celebrate a victory. It's also something that you say when you want someone to hit your open hand with theirs, in order to greet them or to show how pleased you are.

Example 1
That was an incredible goal David! Give me five!

Example 2:
As we left the meeting with the new clients, he looked at me and raised his hand and said, give me five buddy. We just made the biggest business deal of our lives!

If you have any questions about today's Daily Vitamin, please post them in the Daily Vitamin Plus! forum section on our website (www.ziggurat.es). Remember that tomorrow (Friday) we will send the Essential Weekly Vitamin, designed for beginner Spanish-speaking students of English.

Have a good day!
