get.
This time we will look at the most typical or obvious use of
get to mean
to obtain or receive.
Consider the following examples.
Example 1:
John
got a new computer for his birthday.
OR
John's father
got him a new computer for his birthday.
Example 2:
Letizia's parents
got the chance to meet the King and Queen thanks to their daughter's engagement.
Example 3:
Diane sold her old car this week. I heard she
got 3,000 euros for it, but I don't think it was worth that much.
