FRESH-1: meaning and examples

Good morning. I hope you had a great weekend.

Today's word is: Fresh

This word has lots of uses (which we will look at this week), but it is NOT the translation of the Spanish adjective fresco (at least not usually). As we saw in last Tuesday's Daily Vitaminagua fresca is cold water in English, NOT fresh water. (Fresh water is agua dulce, which we will speak about later this week.)

Meaning 1 of fresh: used to talk about food to mean recently produced or picked; not frozen, dried or preserved in tins or cans.

Example 1:
We made a salad with fresh vegetables from the garden; it was delicious!

Example 2:
Nutritionists tell us that it is very important to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables every day.

Example 3:
I prefer to shop at the market instead of the supermarket. Not only are the products cheaper, but they are much fresher.

If you have any questions about today's Daily Vitamin, please post them in the Daily Vitamin Plus! forum section on our website. Tomorrow we will continue with more meanings of fresh.

I hope you have a good day.
