This week we are going to look at expressions with the word SWIM in them.

This week's first expression is: To sink or swim

Definition: used to refer to a situation in which someone either must succeed by his or her own efforts or fail completely.

Example 1: My employer gave me no help when I started my new job - I was just left to sink or swim.

Example 2: When we started Ziggurat Corporate Language School, it was sink or swim
