EXPRESSIONS WITH LOVE (TOUGH LOVE)  : meaning and examples

Hello and happy Friday, readers! It's February, the month of love, and we are looking at expressions with the word LOVE. Today we are learning the expression TOUGH LOVE. 

Definition: Not showing a person kindness or not helping a person so that they will learn to solve their own problems. (This word is usually used when talking about parenting methods.)

Example 1: My daughter is struggling to complete her homework, but I'm not going to help her until she tries to do it herself. It's tough love. 

Example 2: During my lunch break, I went to a coffee shop and saw my son with his friends... at 11:30! I called the school and told them that he was skipping school. It's tough love, but he needs to learn. 

Example 3: My teenager dropped her phone and broke it and I am not going to buy her another. She will have to earn the money to buy a new one herself. Tough love!
