EIGHT vs. EIGHTH: meaning and examples
Today we have our final spelling distinction with these two numbers:
EIGHT: a nominal or cardinal number, used for quantity.
EIGHTH: an ordinal number, used for sequences or dates.
Example 1:
The number eight comes after seven and before nine.
Example 2:
We will give a prize to the eighth person in the queue.
Example 3:
Lucas is eight years old. He was born on the eighth day of the eighth month; in other words... on August 8th.
