DRINK-2: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone.

Today we continue our Daily Vitamins about expressions that use the word drink.

Today's expression is: to drink like a fish

Meaning: to drink a lot of alcohol on a regular basis. It is an informal and humorous expression.

Example 1:
I would like to hire Dan for the new position, but I have heard that he drinks like a fish. I don't think there's anything wrong with having a few drinks from time to time, but it sounds like he has a problem.

Example 2:
He's suffering minor health problems, most likely related to his drinking like a fish when he was younger.
