DOUBLE and TRIPLE: meaning and examples

Good morning. This week we have been looking at some different ways to indicate a change in size, number or amount. Today's words are: double and triple They mean: to increase by twice the original amount (double) or three times the original amount (triple). Example 1: The number of people in this company has doubled since I first started working here. When I got here there were 15 of us. Now there are 30. Example 2: Jason is such an ambitious salesman. While everybody else is trying to double last year's sales, he plans to triple them. Example 3: I don't know which job offer to accept. One company is offering to double my current salary and give me the use of a company car. The other company will triple my salary, but that position doesn't offer as many opportunities for advancement as the first company. If you have any questions about these words, please don't hesitate to contact us. Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!
