DO SOMETHING TO DEATH: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today's expression is: To do something to death

It means: to do or perform something so often that people become tired of seeing or hearing it; they become bored. To overuse something.

As you can see, it is closely related to yesterday's expression ADJ TO DEATH.

Example 1:
That joke has been done to death, but people still laugh at it. I don't understand why.

Example 2:
He talked me to death, so I finally agreed to sell him the company on his terms. I didn't want to listen to him anymore!
