DEAL-1 (REVIEW): meaning and examples

This week we will look at meanings and uses of a very common English word: deal (noun). These Daily Vitamins were originally sent from the 15th to the 18th of December, 2003.
Its most basic meaning is: a formal business or political agreement.
Example 1:
ERC made a deal with the PSC and therefore Pascual Maragall became the 'President' of the Generalitat.
Example 2:
The two airline companies reached a deal in order to avoid bankruptcy.
As you will see over the following days, deal has a lot of other more interesting and colloquial uses.
