COUGH: meaning and examples

Hello again everyone.

Today's word is: Cough (Span: toser/tos)

Meaning: To force out air suddenly and noisily through your throat, for example when you have a cold.

Example 1:
Ron kept coughing during Professor Snape's lesson, so he had to stay after class for detention.

Example 2
Janet coughed nervously to try to get Jacob's attention.

To cough something up has the meaning of giving something up, especially money.

Example 3
Madrid Air may never cough up the money that they owe people. What a scandal!
