CANE: meaning and examples

Good morning. Happy Valentine's Day!

Today's word is: cane (bastón)

Meaning: a piece of cane (caña), a stick or a thin rod used to support you when you are walking.

We can also call a cane a walking stick.

Example 1:
Many years ago, when I was in Seville, a crazy old man hit me on the head with his cane! I had to go to hospital after the horrible event.

Example 2:
Since my father has had his knee surgery, he uses a cane.

Example 3:
Whenever I go hiking in the mountains, I like to use my walking stick.
