BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE

Today we present our last interesting expression of the week. 

Today's interesting expression is: Barking up the wrong tree

Meaning: We use this expression when we feel that someone is following the wrong course of action or making the wrong choice.   

Sentence 1: Anthony thinks that using radio advertisement is going to increase sales exponentially; but I think he's barking up the wrong tree. I think we should focus on social media. 

Sentence 2: The police officer spent months investigating the wrong suspect, only to find out that she had been barking up the wrong tree when new evidence was discovered.
