ALONE-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Back in January of 2006 (wow...5 years ago!) we did a couple of Daily Vitamins about the differences between alone and lonely. Here is the link to those lessons.

https://www.ziggurat.es/es/lecciones_ingles/index.asp?rs=LONELY%20vs.%20ALONE

Over the next several days we are going to look at some expressions with these words and related words.

Today's expression is: to leave / let someone alone

Meaning: to stop annoying someone or to stop trying to get their attention.

Example 1:
The famous actress asked to be left alone, but the press photographers followed her everywhere.

Example 2:
Britney: Leave me alone! This is my private birthday party! You can't be here!
Journalist: Sorry Britney, but your fans have a right to know. I wouldn't leave you alone for anything. I make too much money taking photographs of you.

The command leave me alone, is the equivalent of déjame en paz in Spanish.

If you have any questions about today's Daily Vitamin, please post them in the Daily Vitamin section on our website.

I hope you have a great day!
