Today we continue our look at expressions with the word hot.

Today's expression is: to sell like hot cakes

Meaning: to sell very quickly or in great numbers.

Example 1:
Ever since Steve Jobs announced the new iPad, they have been selling like hot cakes.

Example 2:
After people found out about the sex scandal, the ex-president's book began selling like hot cakes.

Today's expression is: to go hot and cold

Meaning: to experience a sudden feeling of fear or anxiety.

Example 1:
I was alone in the house and it was very late at night. Someone knocked at the door. I suddenly went hot and cold.

Example 2:
When the phone rang, I just went hot and cold.

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Now that it's summer, I thought it might be interesting to look at some expressions with the word hot, since in summer the weather is usually hot.

Today's expression is: to be in hot water or to get into hot water

Meaning: to be in trouble or to get into trouble.

Example 1:
Yesterday Daniel forgot to call the client to tell him that the order would be late. The boss is furious with him. Daniel is in hot water.

Example 2:
Anna. If you continue to lie to me, you're going to get into hot water. Please just tell the truth.

Hello everyone.

Hoy seguimos con nuestro repaso de expresiones y usos de la palabra just en inglés.

Today's expression is: just about (casi)

Meaning: used to express the idea of almost, very nearly or approximately.
(Se usa para expresar la idea de casi, muy cerca o aproximadamente.)

Example 1:
Lisa: Are you enjoying the party?
(¿Estás disfrutando de la fiesta?)
Kelly: Yes. Very much! I think I've met just about everyone here and they are all very friendly.
(Sí. ¡Mucho! Creo que he conocido a casi todo el mundo y todos son muy amables.)

Example 2:
Rachel: Did you reach your sales target?
(¿Lograste tu objetivo de ventas?)
Jack: Just about; and I still have another week to go. I'm sure I will reach it.
(Casi; y todavía me queda otra semana. Estoy seguro de que lo lograré.)

Example 3:
It's quarter to eight. Anthony should be arriving just about now.
(Son las ocho menos cuarto. Anthony debe estar a punto de llegar.)

Good morning everyone.

Today we finish our short series of Daily Vitamins about expressions with drink.

Today's expression is: to drink something in

Meaning: to look at or listen to something with great interest and enjoyment.

Example 1:
We just stood there drinking in the scenery. What a beautiful place!

Example 2:
Just look at her. I think she is really in love with him. She is drinking in every word he says and doesn't take her eyes off of him.

Remember that tomorrow there will be no Daily Vitamin, due to San Juan. However, we will send the Essential Weekly Vitamin on Friday, June 25th.
