BUSINESS EXPRESSIONS (BUSINESS AS USUAL)

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Welcome back, everyone!

After finishing the 2019 Alphabet Game on Friday, we are returning for two more weeks of Daily Vitamin lessons before we pause for summer break.

This week we are focusing on Business Expressions. We begin with the phrase BUSINESS AS USUAL

Definition: Working normally, despite some difficulties or challenges.

Example 1: We think our store might be closing, but we haven't heard anything from management. For now, it's business as usual

Example 2: I'm really not sure what's happening with our merger. Until we know, it's business as usual here at the office.

Example 3: There's a chance we might close early today because of the weather, but for now, it's business as usual

That's all for today. Thanks for reading!

If you feel motivated to do a little practice with this expression, post a sentence with it on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we will give you some feedback.

See you tomorrow for another lesson related to business expressions.

ALPHABET GAME "Z"

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Welcome to our last lesson of the 2019 Alphabet Game! You've all done very well. We have more than 50 students participating in the competition. So let's continue today and finish strong with the letter Z.

Sentence: Sorry, can you please repeat that? I totally _____ out and I wasn’t listening for the last minute or so!

Here’s a hint: this is a phrasal verb.

Leave us your answer on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we will post the correct answer later. We will also include the correct answer in Monday's Daily Vitamin email.

On Monday, we will also announce the winners of this year's contest.

Thank you again to everyone who participated. We hope you enjoyed this chance to review some of the Daily Vitamin lessons from the 2018-2019 academic year. And we hope, as always, that you learned a little more English through your time with us.

Have a great weekend.

Here’s today’s challenge; remember...the word starts with the letter Y.

This is a slang word that shows affirmation. It's a word that younger generations use.

Person A: Let's drink champagne and eat pancakes today.
Person B: Y_______! Great idea.

Leave us your answer on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we will post the correct answer later. We will also include the correct answer in tomorrow's Daily Vitamin email.

We'll see you tomorrow for the last challenge of the 2019 Alphabet Game!

Good luck!

We are looking for the word that is a portmanteau, and it signifies Britain leaving the European Union

Do you know the word?

Leave us your answer on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we will post the correct answer later. We will also include the correct answer in tomorrow's Daily Vitamin email
