HELL-2: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we look at another informal, colloquial expression that uses the word hell. Remember, although it is very common, the use of the word hell is offensive to some people.

Today's expression is: just for the hell of it

Meaning
: just for fun; for no specific reason.

Example 1:
Those teenage boys broke the window just for the hell of it!

Example 2:
Mike: Why don't you call to see if you passed your exam.
Lisa: No...I know I didn't pass. Why should I call?
Mike: Come on...just for the hell of it. Why don't you call? What have you got to lose?
