COME ON!: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we will look at another very common spoken expression with the verb come.

Today's expression is: Come on! (informal, spoken)

It is used: to tell someone to hurry or to try harder.

Example 1:
Come on David! Finish your breakfast and brush your teeth; I don't want you to be late for school.

Example 2:
David: I don't think I'll ever get a job.
Olga: Come on! Don't give up so easily. I know you will get a job if you keep looking.

This expression would be the equivalent of ¡venga! in Spanish.
