PHRASAL VERBS FOR THE OFFICE (FALL BEHIND): meaning and examples

Hello, everyone! Happy Friday to you and welcome to our last lesson of the week.

This week we've focused on Phrasal Verbs for the Office and we are ending with the phrase TO FALL BEHIND

Definition: to fail to do something fast enough; to fail at keeping on a schedule for a project or job.

Example 1: Because of my vacation in August, I fell behind on work.

Example 2: He fell behind with his project after he had surgery.

Example 3: The delays in construction caused us to fall behind on finishing the building.

This phrasal verb is INTRANSITIVE

That's all for this week. Next week we will look at multiple-choice questions from the BULATS English Exam (Business Language Testing Service). We will provide some short readings and a question similar to the ones you might see on the BULATS.

We will see you on Monday for the first lesson.

Have a great weekend!
