THEME THURSDAY: OSCAR VOCABULARY (BALL GOWN): meaning and examples

Hello, everyone! Welcome to February's Theme Thursday.

This is the month of the Oscars, so we are celebrating by looking at Oscar-related vocabulary. We begin with the word BALL GOWN.

Definition: a formal dress.

Example 1: He wore a suit and she wore a lace ball gown.

Example 2: I want to go to the opera, but I have to buy a ball gown. They're so expensive!

A BALL is a festive party, and GOWN is another word for a long dress.
