THEME THURSDAY: PHRASAL VERBS AS NOUNS (FOLLOW-UP): meaning and examples

Welcome back, everyone! How is your week going? It's hard to believe it's already Thursday, and close to the end of the month!

For today's lesson, we are continuing our March theme of Phrasal Verbs that have an equivalent noun. We are looking at the noun FOLLOW-UP.

We looked at the phrasal verb TO FOLLOW UP last Friday. We also covered this Phrasal Verb last November 2014. To review those lessons, click on the link below.

As a noun, we combine the two words with a
hyphen, so the phrasal verb FOLLOW UP becomes the noun FOLLOW-UP.

Definition
: the interaction that follows an initial meeting, conversation, etc.

Example 1
: I think we should do some follow-up after the meeting. You know... to make sure everyone understands their new responsibilities.

Example 2
: I have a follow-up appointment next week.
(NOTE: in this sentence follow-up is really acting as an adjective that describes the noun appointment. This is actually quite common in English.)

We will
follow up this lesson with tomorrow's post on the phrasal verb TO LET GO OF.

Until then, have a great day!
