PUSH-2: meaning and examples

Good morning again.

Yesterday I finished the Daily Vitamin with the following sentence.

Tomorrow we will push on with our review of push expressions.

Today's 1st push expression is: to push on

Meaning: to continue with a journey or an activity.

Example 1:
We rested for about 30 minutes, and then pushed on to the next city. We hope to reach our final destination by tomorrow morning.

Today's 2nd push expression is: to push someone or something over

Meaning: to make someone/something fall to the ground by pushing them/it.

Example 2:
The school bully pushed Jack over. When Jack fell, he broke his arm.

Remember to post comments and questions about today's lesson in the Daily Vitamin section on our website; please don't send us questions by email.

Tomorrow we will push ahead with our plan to review two more push expressions.

Have a nice day!
