Today we finish our review of expressions that have the word strike in them. Today is also the last Daily Vitamin until Monday, January 10th 2011.

Today's expression is: to strike up something (with someone)

Meaning: to begin a friendship, relationship, conversation, etc.

Example 1:
My brother is not timid at all! He often strikes up conversations with complete strangers.

Example 2:
struck up a friendship with Paul while we were on a business trip together. Over the years we have become best friends.
