TO FALL-6: meaning and examples

Good morning everybody!

Today will be the last day that we look at expressions and uses of the verb to fall.

Today's expression with fall is: to fall to pieces

It means: to be in a horrible condition due to being old or badly made (things); to be so unhappy or upset that you can't function normally (people).

Example 1
My car is falling to pieces since it is so old.

Example 2
After his wife left him, he fell to pieces. That's why he hasn't worked in weeks.
