SEASON-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope all of you had a relaxing weekend.

This time of the year, especially in the English-speaking world, is a period that is often referred to as the Holiday Season, since there are so many holidays celebrated in a short time: Halloween (October 31st), Thanksgiving (in the US Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November and in Canada on the second Monday in October), Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years. During this period, especially around Christmas, it's quite common to say Seasons Greetings (felices fiestas).

This week we will look at some uses of and expressions with the word season.

Today's word is: season

Meaning 1: any of the four main periods of the year: winter, spring, summer and autumn (in the US fall is also used instead of autumn).

Example 1
My favourite season is autumn; the colours are spectacular!
