Idioms/Expressions

Hello and happy Friday, everyone!

Today is our last day of Egg Expressions, and it's also the last Daily Vitamin before we take a break for Holy Week (Semana Santa). The last Egg Expression is YOU CAN'T MAKE AN OMELETTE WITHOUT BREAKING SOME EGGS

Definition: An expression meaning that it is impossible to achieve something important without there being some bad effects.

Example 1: The company had to restructure, and several people lost their jobs. The manager said, "you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs," but it's still terrible for those who are out of work.

Example 2: Some customers are angry that the company changed their packaging, but you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs

Fun fact: in American English, the word omelette is spelled omelet

That's it for this week. Next week and the following Monday there will be no Daily Vitamin lessons because of Holy Week (Semana Santa) and Easter Monday (Lunes de Pascua).

We will see you on Tuesday, April 23 for more lessons. Have a great week!
