April 1st is known in the English speaking world as April Fool's Day. It is the equivalent of December 28th in Spain: el Día de los Santos Inocentes. The origin of the April Fool's custom is not clear.

APRIL FOOL'S DAY Vocabulary
April Fool's Day is celebrated by the execution of hoaxes and practical jokes with the goal of publicly embarrassing the gullible.
Meaning: an attempt to trick someone into believing that something false is real.
Although the police searched the building, they found nothing. The telephone call about the bomb was a hoax.
2) Practical joke
Meaning: a joke which makes someone seem foolish and usually involves a physical action rather than just words.
The new worker was sent to the hardware store to buy a left-handed screwdriver as a practical joke.
Meaning: easily deceived or tricked. A person who believes everything that other people say.
People must be very gullible to believe everything that politicians say.
