THEME THURSDAY: USEFUL ADVERBS (DEFIANTLY): meaning and examples

Welcome to our first Theme Thursday of the academic year! For September, we are focusing on useful adverbs. Remember, an adverb is a word that modifies a verb. Often, an adverb ends in -LY, but this is not always the case. Words like WELL and FAST are also adverbs.

Today we are looking at the word
DEFIANTLY

Definition
: to do something with defiance; to do something with resistance or opposing authority or rule.

Example 1
: She looked at him defiantly when she refused his marriage proposal.

Example 2
: I asked my daughter to clean her room but she defiantly sat on her bed and didn't move.

Example 3
: The politician defiantly announced that he was not going to support the Presidential candidate.

That's it for today! I hope you find a way to use this word in your daily conversation very soon!
