HOMONYMS (FAIR): meaning and examples

Welcome back, everyone!

Today we are continuing our theme of Homonyms with the word FAIR. Remember: homonyms are words that have the same spelling or pronunciation but have different meanings.

Definition 1: Equitable (equal parts).

Example 1: I'll cut the pie and you can choose the slice. Is that fair?

Example 2: My ticket for speeding was not that expensive, surprisingly. It was a fair fine.

Definition 2: Beautiful (often used in older English texts).

Example 3: What a fair lady your grandmother was!

Definition 3: Light in colour.

Example 4: She has such fair skin; she always has to wear sunscreen.

That's all for today. Thank you for reading!

Tomorrow (May 1st) is a bank holiday in Spain, so we will see you on May 2nd for another homonym.
