EGG EXPRESSIONS (DON’T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET): meaning and examples

Welcome back, everyone!

Today is our second day of Egg Expressions and we are looking at the saying DON'T PUT ALL OF YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET

Definition: This is a phrase used to give advice; it means that one should not concentrate all of their efforts and resources in one area, because they could lose everything.

Example 1: All of their money is invested in this new company. I told them not to put all of their eggs in one basket, but they are confident they will make money.

Example 2: My friend is a designer. He only has one client, which makes him nervous. He knows it's dangerous to put all of his eggs in one basket: if this client decides to use another designer, my friend will not have any income.

Can you see why this expression is used? If you put all of your eggs into one basket, and then you drop that basket...you have no eggs!

We covered this lesson in March of 2013. Here it is if you'd like to see it again.

That's all for today. I hope you enjoy your day. We will see you tomorrow.
