Reading about the World Cup match in English

12/07/2010 RECURSOS DIDÁCTICOS

This week we continue with our list of online resources, but before we start we’d like to review what English magazines have to say about the Spanish victory in the World Cup.
Sports Illustrated The Sports Illustrated site emphasizes the news with an enthusiastic “Viva España!” and it mentions the Spanish control “of the pace, the rhythm and the ball” during the match.
This image links to the home page of Joe Posnanski’s blog, who refers to the victory as ’The Glory of Spain’.
ESPN Sports ESPN Sports talks about a “New Golden Age” where “Andrés Iniesta scored the most important goal in Spanish history, but also that it was Iker Casillas who won the World Cup for Spain.
The Sports Network The Canadian magazine, The Sports Network, included the headline “Spain Reigns” on their home page. Read the whole article in the magazine.
Finally, remember that you can read about the match in the newspapers and links we provided you previously. For example, you might be interested in knowing how the BBC talks about the Spanish coach, instead of only concentrating on the players, as some of the others newspapers and magazines do: “Del Bosque tips Spain to dominate”.
Enjoy the reading!
